Animal Kingdom Chaos

Afrobeat chant 3:02 Suno v5.5

The family hits Animal Kingdom in a rush and without enough supplies, but the park still opens up for them. Tusker House, Bluey, Zootopia, and Pandora keep the day moving through the heat.

Where it came from

The self-deprecating dig, and my first idea for it. We were rushing to get out the door for our first Animal Kingdom morning and I left half our stuff in the hotel room: the pen, the snacks, the sunscreen. Fela Kuti is one of my favorites, and Afrobeat was where my head went immediately — I wanted to see how far Suno could stretch toward 1970s Lagos. The man himself would probably have been absolutely offended by this and hated every second of it. Sorry, Fela.

The call-and-response chorus (who forgot the pen? Dad did! who’s still saying we’re on track? Dad is!) is so funny and catchy to me. Honestly, this might be my favorite single in the catalog. At least one of them.

Words from the week

Intro: tight Afrobeat groove, bass and guitar lock in

Animal Kingdom! First time for the crew! Roll out the bed now We got things to do!

Call and response

Who forgot the pen? Dad did! Who forgot the snacks? Dad did! Who forgot the sunscreen? Dad did! Who’s still saying, “We’re on track?” Dad is!

Verse 1: raspy lead vocal, playful

Morning came knocking We were moving too slow Shoes on crooked Everybody gotta go

Henry’s pen stayed home Backpack stayed too Snacks and the sunscreen Man, what did Dad do?

Chorus: backing vocals answer each line

Dad forgot the backpack But we’re rolling anyway Dad forgot the sunscreen But we’re finding shade today

First time in the kingdom First time through the gate Six days of magic And we’re running five minutes late

Horn riff

Verse 2: looser, danceable

Tusker House calling Lunch with the crew Plates on the table Everybody gets through

Bluey and Zootopia Shows in the heat Then Pandora glowing Under tired little feet

Chorus: bigger call-and-response

Dad forgot the backpack But we’re rolling anyway Dad forgot the sunscreen But we’re finding shade today

First time in the kingdom First time through the gate Six days of magic And we’re running five minutes late

Bridge: chant breakdown

Early home! That’s the plan! Early home! If we can!

Pandora shine Tusker plate Move too slow Now we’re late!

Final chant: horns and backing vocals

Who forgot the pen? Dad did! Who forgot the snacks? Dad did! Who needs a break at home? We do! Who’s gonna make it back? Maybe!
